Christmas Carol Service 2019, by Mrs Edwards

Date: 17th Dec 2019 @ 12:53pm

This morning, the children took part in our annual Christmas Carol Service. The Year 3 children played their nativity parts very well and thoroughly enjoyed retelling the Christmas story. The choir sounded wonderful and it was lovely to hear the congregational hymns sung by all. Well done to all the children and we wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Christingle Service, by Mrs Edwards

Date: 11th Dec 2019 @ 1:43pm

On Tuesday 10th December 2019, the children at Woodcocks' Well took part in a wonderful Christingle service at St. Luke's Church. The children all created their own Christingle on Monday and were taught about the significance of the different elements of the Christingle. We had a lovely service led by Reverend Phillip followed by the lighting of the Christingles for the whole school. There was a lovely atmosphere when the lights were turned off in a moment of reflection with only the candles burning. The service was ended with the children and congregation singing 'Shine Jesus Shine' which was very fitting for the event! It was a fantastic service and enjoyed by all who attended.

Trampolining at Eaton Bank , by Miss Booth

Date: 30th Nov 2018 @ 12:55pm

Recently, children in year four along with some year five children visited Eaton Bank Academy to take part in a trampolining lesson.

The children had an amazing time and learnt lots of new things and a sport that they might not have tried properly before. Mrs Andrews was full of compliments about the children, how well they worked and how polite and well mannered everyone was - which is always wonderful to hear.

Year 5 fair trade workshop at Eaton Bank, by Miss Booth

Date: 20th Jun 2018 @ 9:18am

An enterprising group of children consisting of our year 5 children visited Eaton Bank for an insight into World Trade.

After an interesting insight into life at Eaton Bank School and it’s Geography Department our children split into teams representing countries around the world. Each team was given a pack and some children were most indignant to discover that the contents of the pack were not fairly split country by country. The aim was to manufacture perfect paper shapes and sell them to the world bank (teacher) in packs of five. Trading was allowed but not any stealing of other team’s shapes! Our children showed such clever manufacturing techniques and enthusiasm for trade ...the atmosphere was electric with competitive spirit. We were surprised to discover that our results mirrored real life trade, in that the country’s that started with least resources worked so hard that they ended up making lots of money through trade. Well done to all pupils who took part.

Cultural Diversity Day , by Miss Booth

Date: 15th Oct 2017 @ 4:59pm

A few weeks ago, our year 6 children were invited by Congleton High School to attend their annual Cultural Diversity Day. Our children look forward to this every September, and by the sounds of things this year didn't disappoint. The children took part in lots of different workshops throughout the day, including: African drumming, Bollywood dancing, wheelchair basketball and beading.

Here's just a few things our children had to say about their day;

'It was great becase it was a lot different to what we do at school' Jack

'The reason I liked it so much was becasue I learnt so much' Roman

'I did things i'd never done before, like wheelchair basketball' Lauren

'I thought it was good beacause it gave us a taste of high school' Thomas

Matilda, by Miss Booth

Date: 21st Jul 2017 @ 4:32pm

The drama club’s performance of Matilda was a huge success this morning. The children in the club had been working hard for seven whole weeks, practicing their lines and stage presence. We were all extremely impressed with the costumes too! A huge thank you to Ms Warrilow for all of her hard work.

Ye-Ha, by Miss Booth

Date: 20th Jul 2017 @ 9:48pm

Well what a roaring success the children’s performance of Ye-Ha was!

On Wednesday, the children in year four, five and six performed not one, but two performances and they really were fantastic. The show was jam-packed with cowboys and Indians, saloon girls and grave undertakers, evil mayors and gangs of no good outlaws…as well as a cook who saved the day! The children spent weeks perfecting their lines and dance numbers and were thrilled with the huge applause and cheers at the end.

A huge well done to all of the children who took part! As always a very big thank you to the parents for standing in as random characters at home whilst their children learnt their lines and of course providing odd items of clothing which magically turn into costumes!

Year Six Assessment Week , by Miss Booth

Date: 15th May 2017 @ 7:09am

As many of you will know, last week, the year six children sat assessments for maths, reading and spelling, punctuation and grammar. We couldn't be prouder of how the children worked, in both the weeks before hand and over the four days of tests. The chldren really did work their socks off!

However, it's not just year six who did all of the hard work. Oh no...we must also say a huge thank you to the rest of the children in the school. They tip-toed around the school like little mice to ensure they didn't disturb anyone, they were encouraging and wishing the year sixes luck when they passed them in the corridors and they gave them huge cheers when they had finished. As a staff we are constantly blown away by the wonderful, caring and kind children we have here at Woodcocks' Well.
