A spectacular Summer Fayre and Rose-Queen Crowning.
Saturday 24th June was the date of our annual Summer Fayre and crowning of the Rose Queen as well as the first Flower Festival of Remembrance to be held at Woodcocks’ Well. It was wonderful to see so many children, families, friends of the school and of course past rose-queens joining us on this special day.
We are sure you will agree that the church was decorated beautifully for the flower festival. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind donations towards the flowers as well as the lovely messages of love we received from families for lost loved ones, which were attached to the flowers. A huge thank you must also be said to Mrs Rowley for organising such a wonderful event.
Our beautiful rose-queens enjoyed the crowning and their special tea-party afterwards. Our new rose queen, Emilia has now taken the batten from Lorna and has lots of amazing ideas for the up-coming year. Lorna and her attendants raised just over £500 during the past year, which is simply amazing! Well done girls!
In true Woodcocks’ tradition the children also performed their may-pole dance, which as always was truly spectacular. They are now looking forward to sharing their dance with you at our annual sports day on Tuesday 11th July.
The summer fayre itself was as always a huge hit. The children and adults were all laden with prizes and full of tea and cake by the end of the day! Unbelievably, a huge £1500 was raised at the event. Again, we would like to thank everyone for their help and support, giving Mrs McKie and Mrs Timmis a special thank you for organising it.
