More than a face...

As part of anti-bullying week, we were thrilled to welcome in Charlie Beswick, the author of Our Altered Life.

Charlie found her life turned upside down after giving birth to twins, one of whom had Goldehar Syndrome. Charlie told us all about her two boys and the difficulties both Harry and Oliver had faced growing up, particularly with those who had not been very kind to them.

Charlie talked lots about the children's similarities and differences to Harry and the children were so happy to find out that whilst they may look quite differnt to Harry, in factual fact they had LOTS of similarities!

Our assembly was followed by a writing workshop for Maple and Oak class. Maple class wrote letters to Harry, asking him questions and sharing how they thought they were like him. Oak class talked further about e-safety and wrote a letter to an online 'bully' explaining why they needed to be kinder in their choice of words and what effect online 'bullying' can have on a person.

The children had a wonderful morning, and couldn't stop talking about Harry and his family all day.

You can read lots more about Charlie, Harry, Oliver and their family on their blog...
